Debra Tate

Owner and lead designer

I draw every project myself, and I come to the site visit. Fifteen of us build them: masons, carpenters and the licensed trades we work with every week.

We started with a kitchen for a neighbor and found that the permit and the gas line were what people worried about most, so we made them the first thing we explain. Each project has one drawing, one schedule and one person you can call.

What I draw

  • Outdoor kitchen layout
  • Fire feature design
  • Permits and approvals

How we work

Three habits that don't change

  • Drawings before prices

You see the layout, the vent and the seats to scale before a number is discussed.

  • Paper before work

Scope, change and payment are written and signed. Nobody starts on a handshake.

  • Inspection before stone

Where the rough-in needs an inspection, the finish waits for it.
