Outdoor kitchens

A kitchen planned around how you cook

We start with what you cook, how many sit down and where the smoke will go, then draw the counter run to suit.

A good outdoor kitchen is mostly layout: a landing space on each side of the grill, a sink within reach, a refrigerator in the shade and a vent hood where the wind can't push smoke into the seats. The drawings show all of it, to scale, before you sign.

What's included

What a counter run includes

  • Foundation and frame

A footing under the whole run, then a steel or block frame that carries the counter and the weight of the grill.

  • Gas, power and water

A licensed gas fitter runs the gas line, our electrician pulls the circuits and a plumber the water and drain.

  • Counters and finishes

Stone, concrete or tile counters cut to the appliances, with a backsplash and a stone or stucco face.

  • Appliances and doors

Built-in grill, burners, refrigerator and access doors set to the maker's clearances, bought through us or supplied by you.

How it goes

The build, in order

  1. 01
    Weeks 1–4

Step 1: Site visit and drawings

We measure, mark the utilities and draw the layout with a 3D view and a materials list.

  2. 02
    Weeks 4–12

Step 2: Proposal, permits and materials

You sign a written proposal. We file permits and order stone and appliances, which sets the start date.

  3. 03
    Build

Step 3: Frame, rough-in and inspection

Footings, frame, gas piping and wiring go in and are inspected before any finish covers them.

  4. 04
    Handover

    Step 4: Finishes and walkthrough

Counters, stone, appliances and lighting, then a walkthrough where we light every burner.

Questions

Kitchen questions

What does an outdoor kitchen cost?

It depends on the size, the finishes, the appliances and how far gas, power and water have to run, so we put a number on it only in writing, after a site visit and drawings. The cost page lists what moves it.

What happens at the site visit?

We walk the yard with you, measure, photograph the house wall and the slope, find where gas, power and water are, and ask how you cook and who sits at the table. You leave with the next step in writing.

Do I need a permit?

Almost always for gas piping, new circuits and any roof or wall attached to the house. We prepare and file the applications for the work we build. Metro Nashville and each neighboring county have their own office and rules, and we confirm yours at the visit.

What does your warranty cover?

The proposal states our workmanship warranty in writing: it covers the masonry, framing and the gas and electrical connections we install, for the period the proposal names, and says how to make a claim. Appliances carry the maker's warranty. Damage from misuse, flooding or ground movement isn't covered.

Bring the grill you want

We'll draw the counter run around it, with the clearances it needs.
