Fire features
A fire sized to the people around it
A fire pit that is too big for the seat wall leaves the far chairs cold, and one that is too small gets crowded. We size both together.
Gas fire features run on natural gas from your meter or on propane from a tank. Wood pits and fireplaces need a clear radius and, for a fireplace, a flue designed with the footing. We choose between them with you at the site visit, then draw the seating, the surround and the shutoff.

What decides which fire
Natural gas
Lights with a switch and burns without ash. It needs a gas line from the meter, which sets much of the cost.
Propane
Runs from a tank placed where the code allows. A good fit when the meter is far from the yard.
Wood
Smell, crackle and a real fire. It needs a wider clear radius and a plan for ash and burn rules.
Questions
Fire questions
Can a fire feature go on a covered patio?
Open flame and gas fire features have clearance and ventilation rules, and under a roof the answer depends on the roof height, how many sides are open and your local code. The inspector has the last word, so we check it at the visit before we draw anything.
Do I need a permit?
Almost always for gas piping, new circuits and any roof or wall attached to the house. We prepare and file the applications for the work we build. Metro Nashville and each neighboring county have their own office and rules, and we confirm yours at the visit.
What if it rains or freezes?
A light rain won't stop the crew. Concrete and mortar need a dry day above freezing, so a hard freeze or a wet week moves the date. We tell you the new date and write it down.
How long does a project take?
Many clients start about eight to twelve weeks after signing, because permits and materials set the pace. The build itself runs from a few weeks to a few months with the size. Your proposal names a start window and a finish window.
Tell us who sits around it
The number of chairs decides the size of the fire. We start there.
